You can only become truly accomplished at something you love. Don't make money your goal. Instead, pursue the things you love doing, and then do them so well that people can't take their eyes off you.

Maya Angelou

It is a peculiar part of the good photographer's adventure to know where luck is most likely to lie in the stream, to hook it, and to bring it in without unfair play and without too much subduing it.

James Agee

Adventure isn't hanging on a rope off the side of a mountain. Adventure is an attitude that we must apply to the day to day obstacles of life.

John Amatt

Art will remain the most astonishing activity of mankind, born out of struggle between wisdom and madness, between dream and reality, in our mind.

Give every day the chance to become the most beautiful day of your life.

Oh, beauty, ever ancient and ever new.

Art is not so much expressing oneself, as it is discovering oneself.

Time is nature's way of keeping everything from happening at once.

Woody Allen

I've learned that no matter what happens, or how bad it seems today, life does go on, and it will be better tomorrow.

Anybody with artistic ambitions is always trying to reconnect with the way they saw things as a child.

Tim Burton

Creativity depends on a number of things: experience, including knowledge and technical skills; talent; an ability to think in new ways; and the capacity to push through uncreative dry spells.

Teresa Amabile

The sunrise, of course, doesn't care if we watch it or not. It will keep on being beautiful, even if no one bothers to look at it.

Gene Amole

I have always been very much involved in the pseudo biological cycle of production, consumption and destruction. And for a long time, I have been anguished by the fact that one of its most conspicuous material results is the flooding of our world with junk and rejected odd objects.

Nothing gives quite the satisfaction that doing things brings.

The man who never in his mind and thoughts travel'd to heaven is no artist.

William Blake

The thing, of course, is to make yourself alive. Most people remain all of their lives in a stupor. The point of being an artist is that you may live.

Sherwood Anderson

The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.

Ralph Waldo Emerson

Common sense is not so common.

Voltaire

There is nothing more meaningful than being true to yourself and finding your own voice. Follow your heart and don't let anyone discourage you.

Jane Fulton Alt

Everybody gets so much information all day long that they lose their common sense.

If you must have a rule to follow, I would suggest cultivating a dialogue with your inner voice... If you listen to the clues your own images offer, the resulting work will be fresh, and authentic. Fall in love with your world . . .

Jane Fulton Alt

Every day is a renewal, every morning the daily miracle. This joy you feel is life.

No vision and you perish; / No Ideal, and you're lost; / Your heart must ever cherish / Some faith at any cost. / Some hope, some dream to cling to, / Some rainbow in the sky, / Some melody to sing to, / Some service that is high.

Sneggie

(Snegurochka) of Russian Fairy Tales

The tale of Snegurochka, or The Snow Maiden, is often beautifully depicted on hand-painted Russian crafts. This Snegurochka is the daughter of Spring and Winter who appears to a childless couple as a winter blessing.

In the early twentieth century, a splendid walled city of domed palaces, palm-lined courts, and monumental statuary arose on San Francisco's northern shore. The 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition (PPIE)—a world's fair commemorating the opening of the Panama Canal just nine years after the devastating earthquake and fires of 1906—emerged on 635 acres of land previously submerged by water.

It is paint's organic nature that helps me to understand life. For within the act of painting there is a history, a continuum of alchemy through the Ages that lives on in paint.

Lori Agostino

I've learned that you can tell a lot about a person by the way he/she handles these three things: a rainy day, lost luggage, and tangled Christmas tree lights.

There is an ecstasy that marks the summit of life, and beyond which life cannot rise. And such is the paradox of living, this ecstasy comes when one is most alive, and it comes as a complete forgetfulness that one is alive.

One day's happiness often predicts the next day's creativity.

Teresa Amabile

Take clear water with grass waving at the bottom. It's wonderful to look at, but to try to paint it is enough to make one insane.

Claude Monet

The visionary is the one who brings his or her voice into the world and who refuses to edit, rehearse, perform, or hide. It is the visionary who knows that the power of creativity is aligned with authenticity.

Most people say about graveyards: "Oh, it's just a bunch of dead people. It's creepy." But for me, there's an energy to it that it not creepy, or dark. It has a positive sense to it.

Tim Burton

Colouring does not depend on where the colours are put, but on where the lights and darks are put, and all depends on form and outline, on where that is put.

But, I nearly forgot, you must close your eyes otherwise you won't see anything.

Lewis Carroll
