Shorpy Photos

Yesterday, a friend and co-worker sent me a collection of interesting old photos that were taken in America over a hundred years ago. Looking through the images, I noticed the name Shorpy in the bottom corner of each photograph. I did a search online and found the Shorpy web site. Shorpy.com | History in HD is a vintage photo blog featuring thousands of high-definition images from the 1850s to 1950s. The site is named after Shorpy Higginbotham, a teenage coal miner who lived 100 years ago. I spent some time looking through the vast archives at Shorpy and found some wonderful and rare photographs of San Francisco. I've added in some of these San Francisco images to the collection that was sent to me yesterday. Anyone who's interested in history and photography should peruse the archives at Shorpy.com.
