Views from the Anticipation

On Wednesday this week I had the great pleasure of being aboard the Anticipation, a luxurious 83 ft. yacht owned by George Pasha. Mr. Pasha and his wife Janet are regular and favorite customers of ours at the restaurant where I work. On Tuesday I had received an email from him with an invitation to go out on his yacht at noon the next day to view and photograph the parade of tall ships that kicked off this week’s festival. I answered yes immediately.
We pulled out of the St. Francis Yacht Club shortly after noon on Wednesday. With a two man crew and George at the wheel, there were 16 of us on the Anticipation. Once the tall ships had all passed under the Golden Gate Bridge, George took us on a tour of San Francisco Bay that was a visual feast and revelation for me. From out on the beautiful blue waters of the bay, we viewed close-up, the Golden Gate Bridge, the Marin Headlands, Sausalito, Belvedere, Tiburon, Alcatraz, and Angel Island. The Pashas, consummate hosts, provided their guests with a well-appointed cabin filled with mixed drinks, wines, cheeses, fruits and a variety of snacks. Halfway into our happy excursion, we tied off in a cove at Angel Island and were served a lunch of four different kinds of pizza. Moored at a dock next to us was the famous Potomac, FDR’s private presidential yacht which now plies the bay as an attraction. I had my camera with four extra batteries and a 16.0 GB card. In four hours I shot nearly 1600 photos. Here are a few of the shots.
(Again, heart-felt thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Pasha for providing such an incredible day.) Ron
